Are Electric Pick Up Trucks on the Decline?
Ford has discontinued production of its all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup truck, which was well-received and the best-selling electric truck in America, but never became profitable. The decision stems from higher prices than originally promised, slower-than-expected EV sales, reliability issues, and recent regulatory changes under the Trump administration that removed key incentives like the $7,500 tax credit.
Ford is shifting focus to hybrids and more affordable vehicles, citing strong customer demand for electrification benefits combined with practicality and lower costs. The company plans to replace the Lightning with a plug-in hybrid version offering extended range, while developing a cheaper midsize electric pickup in the future. You can read more here.

Senator Jon Husted has officially filed his candidacy paperwork for the 2026 special Senate election in Ohio, making his side of the anticipated race formal.
Husted, appointed earlier in 2025 by Governor Mike DeWine to fill the seat vacated by Vice President JD Vance, expressed confidence in his chances, pointing to Democrat Sherrod Brown's recent loss despite high spending and name recognition.
Former Senator Sherrod Brown, who lost his seat in 2024 to current Senator Bernie Morino, has indicated interest in running again but has not yet filed, with the deadline in February 2026.
